The decision was taken by the state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
State Minister and government spokesman Shrikant Sharma said that the entitlement would be for family members of all such personnel from the defence and para-military forces who have been killed on the border, in terror activity, gunfights, explosion, calamity or during discharge of their duties. This arrangement will be considered in retrospective effect from April 1, 2017, he added.
Giving further details, the minister further elaborated that the facility will extend to dependents of killed personnel from paramilitary forces like the BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles and Special Frontier Force. Families of defence personnel who have been declared dead by a competent court or those who are missing will also be entitled for the jobs in the state government.
