Car bomb explosions hit Libya’s Benghazi

Tripoli, Jan 24 (IANS) Two car bombs exploded in Salmani district of the eastern Libyan city Benghazi on Tuesday, killing and injuring several people.

The first car bomb exploded in front of a mosque, as worshipers exited the mosque after the night prayer, Xinhua cited the Libyan news agency as saying.

Following the arrival of ambulances, a second car bomb exploded in the same location. The two explosions killed and injured several people and caused large damage.

Fadia Al-Barghathi, official of the Information Office of Al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi, said that "the first explosion killed four people and injured three others."

"The victims of the second explosion have not been counted yet. The final number of victims of the blast will be presented in a few hours," she said.

These are the most violent bombings in Benghazi for months, after witnessing a relative security stability following the recent control of the eastern army led by General Khalifa to the entire city and the announcement of the completion of the army's military operations against terrorists groups in Benghazi.
