Rabat, Jan 18 (IANS) Moroccan Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mounia Boucetta, and US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Deputy for Civil-Military Engagement Alexander Laskaris discussed the security situation in Africa here on Thursday.
During the talks between the two officials, they lauded the excellent relations between Morocco and the US, particularly in terms of military cooperation, according to a statement from the Moroccan Foreign Ministry, reported Xinhua.
Laskaris hailed Morocco's efforts to promote peace and security in Africa, the statement said.
For her part, Boucetta highlighted the importance of adopting a multi-dimensional approach to the rising extremism in Africa.
Laskaris' visit to Morocco is part of AFRICOM's regular consultations with African partner countries, the statement noted.
AFRICOM, one of the US unified combatant commands under the US Department of Defense, is responsible for US military relations with African countries.
