Mamata condoles death of Sarod maestro Buddhadev Das Gupta

Kolkata, Jan 15 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday condoled the death of legendary Sarod player Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta, terming it a great loss to the world of classical music.

"Padma Vibhushan Pandit Buddhadeb Das Gupta in no more. A great loss for the world of classical music. Rest in Peace. Condolences to his family," Banerjee wrote on Twitter.

Das Gupta died of a heart attack on Monday morning at the age of 85.

The Sarod maestro was born on February 1933 in Bihar's Bhagalpur. He was conferred with Padma Bushan in 2012.
