Rabat, Jan 16 (IANS) The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has condemned the twin suicide attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad that killed at least 36 people.
This act of terrorism, which targeted citizens, private and public property, is a terrible crime that deserves the most severe punishment, ISESCO said in a statement on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Islamic organ affirmed its support for Iraq in face of terrorism. It also offered condolences to the families of the victims.
At least 36 persons were killed and 91 others injured in twin suicide attacks in Baghdad early on Monday, medical sources said.
The deadly attack, which was the bloodiest of its type to hit Iraq since February 2017, rocked Sahet al-Tayaran square in the city centre, an area that on a daily basis gathers large crowds of men in search of temporary work.
