Tripoli, Jan 10 (IANS/AKI) At least 90-100 migrants drowned in a shipwreck off Libya's coast, the Libyan Coast Guard said on Wednesday, adding that it had rescued 17 women from the stricken rubber dinghy.
The shipwreck occurred on Tuesday off al-Khoms, east of Tripoli, it said on its Facebook page.
At least 81 people perished in the Mediterranean between January 1 and January 8, compared with 26 known deaths in December, the International Organisation for Migration reported on Tuesday.
