UP cabinet okays proposal to slash CNG prices

UP cabinet okays proposal to slash CNG pricesLucknow, Jan 9 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday okayed a proposal to slash the price of CNG by Rs 3.30 per kg.

The proposal got the nod at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said government spokesman Srikant Sharma, adding this had been done to make the CNG price in Uttar Pradesh at par with that in New Delhi.

The cabinet also reinstated executive officer Nihal Chand, of the municipal council in Rampur, who had been dismissed from services by the then Akhilesh Yadav government through a cabinet order. This was done at the behest of then then powerful minister Mohd Azam Khan, who is also an MLA from Rampur, his home town.

The state cabinet has also approved proposals to bear the price for restarting the Munderwas sugar mill in Basti, under lock down since 1999 and the Pipraich sugar mill in Gorakhpur which has been closed since 2008. This move is likely to benefit 60,000 plus farmers and create some 17,000 odd jobs.
