London/Kolkata, Jan 4 (IANS) Indian Super League (ISL) franchise ATK's star man Robbie Keane is likely to leave them midway with English second division side Wolverhampton Wanderers wanting the services of the ace striker in their bid to secure promotion to the top flight.
According to reports in the British media, Wolves, who are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship points table, want their former player to help them qualify for the English Premier League (EPL) for the first time since 2012.
Keane, 37, made his professional debut for Wolves in 1997 before moving to Coventry two years later.
Keane had already committed to ATK when at the start of the season Wolves approached the ex-Tottenham Hotspur great in a bid to use his wealth of experience.
It was also learnt from an espnfc report that Keane is eager to return to the club this month.
When contacted, ATK officials said they are not aware of the development and would thus not like to comment.
Since recovering from a Achilles problem, the Irish striker has been among goals netting twice in four games for the ISL reigning champions including the opener in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against FC Goa.
Former Republic of Ireland skipper Keane scored 29 goals in 87 games for Wolves after making his debut as a 17-year-old.
