'United action needed to combat global food crisis, climate change'New Delhi, Jan 4 (IANS) The International Conference on Agribusiness in Emerging Economies on Thursday called for united action to achieve new agricultural technologies to combat global food crisis and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

The conference was organised by TERI School of Advanced Studies in collaboration with Whitman School of Management, the South Asia Centre at Syracuse University (USA) and Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies (JADEE).

According to a release, as many as 230 experts, policymakers and CEOs from developed and global emerging economies participated in the two-day conference that concluded on Thursday.

 

They discussed solutions for transformation in the areas of sustainable agribusiness practices, rural development, food and nutritional security.

They attempted to "explore the challenges in the development and harnessing opportunities to optimize inclusive agribusiness to achieve sustainable transformation that changes rural demographics, migration, merging globalisation of agri-markets to mitigate food security and adapt to climate change impacts".
