Kolkata, Jan 4 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday conducted raids in 12 places in Kochi and Kolkata in a case related to import of e-waste and seized around 190 documents, a CBI official said.
The investigation agency said that the raid was conducted on the basis of a case against three senior officers of customs at a container freight station in Kerela's Pettah, the proprietor of Kolkata based private firm Automation (Pvt) Ltd, an official of Cochin-based private firm Ajith Associates, proprietor of another Cochin-based firm Universal Enterprises and the managing partner of a private firm.
"The accused persons entered into criminal conspiracy among themselves to import used multi-function displays in violation of the Hazardous Waste rules, E Waste rules, Foreign Trade Policy & Compulsory Registration order," the release said.
"They prepared false valuation report of the consignment in connivance with public servants for releasing the consignment for sale in open market," it added.
