Ashes: England seamer Overton ruled out of Boxing Day TestLondon, Dec 24 (IANS) The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday announced that seamer Craig Overton has been ruled out of the Boxing Day Test against Australia with a fractured rib.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury in the third Test at the WACA in Perth after being struck in his ribs during the second match at Adelaide.

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc -- who is the leading wicket-taker in the series -- has also been ruled out of the upcoming Test with a heel injury. He will be replaced by Jackson Bird who plays first-class cricket for Tasmania.

 

England have already lost the Ashes 0-3 to Australia. The fourth Test will begin on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
