Kolkata, Dec 16 (IANS) The Kolkata Port Trust is awaiting the Centre's approval for leasing out 111 acres of its land to private developers for a township project, a top official said here on Saturday.
"The proposal is in the process of being approved by the Ministry. We are waiting for the Ministry's approval," Kolkata Port Trust Chairman Vinit Kumar said while urging the real estate captains to seek briefing from port officials on the opportunities they can tap from the project.
"You can meet officers for more details. They are approachable. They will apprise you about the opportunities that lie before you," Kumar told a gathering of captains from the commercial real estate sector at the Conference on Sustainable Real Estate organised by CII.
Kumar said KoPT is also in the process of providing an additional 87 acres in the city for real estate development and called upon the real estate developers to participate in the e-tendering process.
According to Kumar, KoPT owns around 4,000 acres, of which 60 per cent are operational.
