‘Karvan-e-Aman’ bus operates between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad

Srinagar, Dec 4 (IANS) The cross Line of Control peace bus service known as 'Karvan-e-Aman' operated on Monday between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, officials said.

Authorities said 26 passengers from the state went across to Muzaffarabad to meet members of their divided families in Pakistan governed Kashmir while five passengers came to this side of the region from Muzaffarabad.

The bus service was started as a Confidence Building Measure between India and Pakistan on April 7, 2005.

The bus leaves summer capital Srinagar on every Monday carrying passengers to the Kaman Post in Uri sector of the LoC.

Another bus also brings passengers from Muzaffarabad to Pakistani side.

Passengers from both sides cross the "Aman Setu" bridge on the LoC on foot to start their respective journeys to Srinagar and Muzaffarabad.
