A.K. Antony kept under observation

New Delhi, Nov 30 (IANS) Former Defence Minister A.K. Antony, admitted to RML hospital here after he suffered a minor brain haemorrhage, will be kept under observation for the next two-three days, doctors said, adding that they will take a call on surgery if the need arises.

"He will be under observation for the next two-three days. There will be no surgery if need does not arise," said a senior authority of the hospital.

Earlier, doctors had decided to perform a minimally invasive surgery on Antony to remove the blood clot in his brain.

The 76-year-old is undergoing conservative treatment -- or avoidance of invasive measures -- as doctors needed time to decide on the next course of action.

The senior Congress leader was admitted to RML on Wednesday afternoon.

"He was brought to the hospital in the afternoon. There is nothing to worry as it was a minor brain haemorrhage," said a doctor on condition of anonymity.

Antony served two terms as Defence Minister and three times as Kerala Chief Minister.
