Five killed in Yemen car bombing

Sanaa, Nov 29 (IANS) At least five people were killed in a car bombing near Yemen's Finance Ministry headquarters in the southern port city of Aden on Wednesday, officials said.

The explosion, which damaged the four-storey building's facade in Khormaksar district, was carried out in the early hours of the morning, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Islamic State terror organisation took responsibility for the attack in a statement issued by the militant-linked news agency Amaq.

The blast badly damaged the building and engulfed it with flames for hours, leaving important government documents on fire, said officials. Several nearby residential buildings were partially destroyed.

No government workers or employees were present at the ministry building at the time of explosion and all the offices were empty.
