Buenos Aires, Nov 28 (IANS) Diego Cocca has resigned as head coach of Argentine football outfit Racing Club following a 0-1 loss to rivals Independiente.
Juan Ramon Fleita will assume the role on an interim basis while the club seeks a permanent successor, Racing officials said late Monday, reports Xinhua news agency.
"This club is dear to me and I want what's best for it," Cocca told a press conference. He denied reports of a dressing room mutiny.
Racing are currently 19th in Argentina's Primera Division standings with just three wins from 10 matches so far this season.
The club was eliminated from the Copa Sudamericana earlier this month after 0-1 loss over two legs to Paraguay's Libertad.
Cocca joined Racing for a second time as manager this year, having led the club to a league title during his first spell in charge in 2014.
The 45-year-old is the ninth coach to be sacked in Argentina's top division since September.
