Gurugram, Nov 26 (IANS) Gold and diamond jewellery apart from cash with a total worth of Rs 80 lakh were on Sunday stolen from Hotel Leela Ambience on the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway here, police said.
A bag containing the gold and diamond ornaments went missing from the ballroom of the hotel in the upscale DLF-3 area while a wedding ceremony was on.
S.D. Bhushan Sawhney, a resident of NRI Residency in Noida's Sector 45, got registered a case against the hotel management for security lapses and said many CCTVs at the hotel were either defunct or had a low range.
Sawhney said just two CCTVs were installed in the 9,000 square feet hall, where the main function was held.
"We sought immediate closure of all exit points of the hotel but the security staff did not listen to us," Sawney said in his complaint at the DLF Phase 2 police station.
