Titled "Art Now," the exhibition is a follow-up to its first show held at Mumbai's Jehangir Art Gallery last year.
The show portrays the current art practices and aims to show how they have evolved over the last few years. The exhibition will showcase the works of some distinguished artists that are the faces of Indian art, along with the works of some bright emerging artists who are evolving their distinctive styles.
Contemporary Indian art is reaching out to a larger audience and fast evolving around the globe. The artists have been experimenting with newer mediums and are responding to the environment around them. The artworks highlight the signature style of each artist, depicting the current cultural and global influences on Indian art, thus creating a deeper interest in art today.
"Art Now is about art today. It is a series that will showcase once a year new works of some of the important Indian artists. We plan to compile this into a volume 'Art Now' that will be released in 2020. Art Now 17' is second in the series, the first was held in 2016 in Mumbai," said Sunaina Anand, Director, Art Alive.
Art Alive has joined hands with art aficionado Raseel Gujral Ansal to jointly present the exhibition.
The exhibition will bring together the works by Krishen Khanna, Satish Gujral, Sakti Burman, Jogen Chowdhury, Anjolie Ela Menon and Manu Parekh, among others.
Along with showing the works of these artists, there will also be a focus section on the works of Satish Gujral, Thota Vaikuntam, Paresh Maity and Jayasri Burman.
