New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) An FIR has been registered against a Station House Officer in the national capital for presenting a fake Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate to get the job, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
"The accused Inspector, Devender Kumar Khari, a SHO at the Kashmere Gate Police Station, has been charged with cheating and forgery by falsely projecting himself as an SC candidate and securing job as a Sub-Inspector in the Delhi Police in December 1992," the officer said.
"SHO's father Mangat Singh has also categorically stated that he is a Gujjar by caste," he added.
The case was registered in October 2014 by the Crime Branch based on a complaint. The case has now been forwarded to the DCP (Vigilance) for investigation.
Khari had allegedly procured the Scheduled Caste certificate for "Jatav" caste from a tehsildar in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, the officer said.
The certificate furnished could not be verified from the issuing authority as there was no record available in that office for the year 1989 when it was issued, he added.
