Ghaziabad, Nov 16 (IANS) An engineer who took a ride in a car to reach Meerut was robbed of his cash, mobile phone and other belongings by robbers who pretended to be fellow passengers, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred around Wednesday midnight when Manoj Kumar boarded the car at Mohan Nagar, whose driver told him that he was ferrying passengers to Meerut.
After covering about two or three kilometres, one of the so-called passengers put a pistol at his head and looted his Rs 5,000 in cash, wrist watch, debit card and two mobile phones.
They then pushed him out of the car near Pratap Vihar on National Highway 24 in Ghaziabad.
On Thursday morning, Manoj Kumar, a resident of Brahmpuri in Meerut, lodged a police complaint. "Our investigations are on," police officer Manisha Singh said.
