The 36-year-old has signed a contract until the end of June 2019, by which time he will be 38-years-old, reports Xinhua news agency.
Aduriz, who came out of the Athletic Club youth system, is in his 10th season with the club's first team and has also played for Mallorca and Valencia.
He has scored 110 goals in 257 league appearances for Athletic, as well as many others in Europe and the King's Cup and has already netted nine goals in all competitions this season.
The striker was part of the Spain squad in the 2016 European Championships and has played 13 times for his country.
