LG approves measures against pollution

New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS) Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday said that he had approved necessary measures against the rising problem of air pollution in the capital in an emergency meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Baijal cited the ban on civil construction, shutting down of schools and higher frequency of public transport as the steps needed to deal with the alarming pollution level, with 18 of the 21 active pollution monitoring stations in the national capital recording "severe" air quality on Tuesday.

"Emergency meeting on pollution with @ArvindKejriwal. Measures approved include ban on entry of trucks (except carrying essentials), ban on civil construction, school holidays till weekend, hike in parking fees and higher frequency of metro and buses," Baijal said in a tweet.
