Chandigarh, Nov 7 (IANS) Keen on producing 2,000 doctors every year to meet the shortage of health specialists, the Haryana government has decided to set up a medical college in every district of the state, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Tuesday.
Haryana has a total of 22 districts.
Khattar said the state needs more doctors so that proper medical facilities could reach more people, especially in the rural areas.
He also said that doctors have to sometimes work round-the-clock and it was stressful.
"The state government is continuously working to meet the requirement of doctors and it could only be achieved by setting up new medical colleges," the Chief Minister said.
He said that a medical health insurance scheme was also being finalised to ensure that the poor did not face any difficulty in getting treatment at hospitals.
