India, Kazakhstan begin joint army exercise

Shimla, Nov 2 (IANS) India and Kazakh troops started a joint exercise in Himachal Pradesh's Bakloh on Thursday, an official statement said.

The exercise 'Prabal Dostyk' which means 'Robust Friendship' in Hindi and Kazakh and go on till November 15, is "aimed at enhancing the military ties between the two countries as also at achieving interoperability between the two armies", the statement said.

The training contingents comprise of a platoon strength formation from Indian Army's 11th Gorkha Rifles and a similar strength from the Kazakh Army.
