Seoul, Nov 2 (IANS) The sales of Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 smartphone in South Korea have reached 1 million units in a little over a month's time after the device hit local shelves, industry data showed on Thursday.
The South Korean tech giant started official sales of the 6.3-inch phablet on September 21, selling 850,000 units through preorders, which kicked off a week earlier, Yonhap news agency reported.
The figure eclipsed numbers for the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, which managed to draw in 380,000 preorders.
Samsung said it also plans to add the gold-colour edition (in South Korea) to the Galaxy Note 8 products starting on Friday, which is currently available in black, blue and grey in the country.
Galaxy Note 8 is priced at 1.09 million won ($979). The device costs nearly Rs 68,000 in India.
