New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) The hearing in the AIADMK symbol case got further prolonged with lawyers for sidelined leaders T.T.V. Dinakaran and V.K. Sasikala continuing to insist on cross examination of some of those who had given allegedly fake affidavits in support of the rival side.
Rajasendhoor Pandian, counsel for Dinakaran, told reporters that their side told the Commission that affidavits contrary to law have been filed by the faction owing allegiance to Chief Minister E. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and they needed to be examined.
Pandian said senior counsel Vijay Hansaria contended that the rival side was going back on the practice adopted in 1989 when J. Jayalalithaa was appointed interim General Secretary by the General Council after the death of M.G. Ramachandran and the same practice was followed in the case of Sasikala now.
He said while Hansaria concluded arguments on Wednesday, Sasikala's counsel Abhishek Singhvi would continue his arguments on Monday. The EPS-OPS side would place their concluding arguments on Tuesday.
Pandian also maintained that the Supreme Court's deadline of November 10 to the Commission for a decision was not absolute and could be extended.
K.P. Munusamy and Tamil Nadu Minister D. Jayakumar, both belonging to the ruling faction, accused the rival side of prolonging the case aimed at denying the "Two Leaves" symbol for their faction because they knew fully well that they did not have adequate numbers on their side.
