Iran unveils homegrown radar system

Tehran, Oct 30 (IANS) Iran unveiled advanced homegrown radar system on Monday which is able to track vessels as well as aerial targets, Tasnim news agency reported.

The advanced radar system named "Afaq" (horizons) was put on display during a ceremony on Monday with Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami in attendance.

Hatami said the radar is capable of monitoring and tracking vessels at a distance of up to 200 km.

It is also able to track aerial targets, he said without further elaboration.

Hatami hailed production of the radar system by the Iranian experts at the Defence Ministry.
