New Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS) Punjab became the first beneficiary of the digital selection process for LPG distributorship as 26 new distributorships in the state were selected on Friday through the online draw system, the Union Petroleum Ministry said.
State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have recently changed their selection process for cooking gas distributorships from physical to digital mode, introducing online receipt of applications and processing, as well as the online draw.
"Today, (Friday), online draw to select 26 new distributorships was successfully conducted in Punjab, out of 609 applicants," an official statement said here.
This is part of an exercise by the three OMCs to strengthen the supply chain by appointing over 6,000 new LPG distributorships, primarily in rural areas, it said.
"In the ensuing days, the online draw will also be conducted for selection of new distributorship in the remaining states across the country," the statement added.
