"The Trinamool Congress miscreants today attacked our BPMO rally in Nadia district's Chopra and injured four to five of our leaders and activists. Even the women in the rally were not spared," Bose said in a press release.
A total of 117 state based mass organisations including those of the Left's, have come under the banner of BPMO that is holding big and numerous local level marches, culminating into rallies in the district headquarters, as also Kolkata. The march started from October 22 and would end in Kolkata on November 3.
The 17-point charter of demands includes ensuring remunerative prices for farmers, digital ration cards for all, food for all, setting up of new factories to provide jobs, opening of closed factories, minimum guaranteed wages for workers in unorganised sectors, compensation to victims of ponzi scams, security for women and strenghening of ICDS and mid-day meal schemes.
Bose said the rallies organised by BPMO were being continuously attacked and threatened by the Trinamool-backed goons in the last few days.
He also alleged that former CPI-M MP Manoranjan Patra has been arrested in Bankura district in a false case before the rallies started.
"No matter how much the state government boasts about a democratic environment, in reality their attack on democracy is going on. The rallies would continue till November 2 as a protest against such attacks," he added.
