Los Angeles, Oct 19 (IANS) Actress Sarah Hyland has been accused of body shaming a female driver on an Instagram video.
In the clip, Hyland and her male friend could be heard laughing while she filmed the woman who was driving a car next to them.
The "Modern Family" star was then heard saying through her laughter, "How, how, do you get in your car miss?"
The woman was unaware that she was being filmed and commented upon by the actress and her friend, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Upon seeing the video, people thought that Hyland was poking fun at the woman's weight.
This comes after the actress once opened up about her own experience being criticised for her weight on social media.
Following the backlash, Hyland posted new videos on her Instagram Stories.
"Okay, I'd like to say one thing. For those thinking that I was making fun of the woman in the car, uh no. If you noticed, the car didn't have a car handle. That's why I was questioning how she got in the car or not. It didn't have a handle," Hyland explained.
She posted another video in which she rolled her eyes and said that everyone takes things so personally these days.
