Bengaluru to host World Sudoku, Puzzle Championships

Bengaluru, Oct 12 (IANS) Bengaluru will host the 12th World Sudoku Championship and the 26th World Puzzle Championship from October 15 to 21, which will witness the participation of over 33 countries, the organisers said on Thursday.

"After the 2008 World Sudoku Championship that was held in Goa, this is the second time that India will host the top events of the puzzle world from October 15 to 21," Logic Masters India, the organisers of the championships said in a statement here.

Logic Masters India, the Indian representative body of the World Puzzle Federation, has been conducting national championships since 2008 for the selection of Indian team for the world championships.

"Till date, over 400 participants representing 33 countries across the world, like the US, United Kingdom, China, Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand among others have registered for the championships," the statement said.

The participants compete both individually and in national teams for these puzzle championships.

While the World Sudoku Championship is about the puzzle sudoku and its variations, the World Puzzle Championship involves all kinds of logical puzzles. Both the championships are held annually.

This will be the first time since 1992, when the first World Puzzle Championship took place, that the championship will take place in India.
