Idea was to make a pure horror film: Siddharth

Mumbai, Oct 11 (IANS) Actor Siddharth, mostly known for featuring in Telugu and Tamil films, says the idea of making his next film "The House Next Door" was to come up with a pure horror movie without diluting it with comedy, sex or songs.

Siddharth, who has produced the film along with Viacom18, was asked about the challenges he faced while making it.

"The big challenge in this film was being honest about ourselves. Over the years, horror genre got diluted. Someone includes comedy or sex or songs in it, so with this film, the idea was to make a pure horror film," the actor said at the trailer launch of the film on Tuesday.

"Quite often, after seeing the trailer of the film, people get an idea about the entire film, but another challenge was what to show in the trailer and what to retain in the film.

"So even after seeing the trailer, the audience will not get a clear picture of the plot of this film because this film offers much more than its trailer," he added.

The trailer launch was also attended by actors Andrea Jeremiah, Anisha Victor and Atul Kulkarni, who was last seen with Siddharth in the 2006 blockbuster "Rang De Basanti".

Talking about their friendship on and off the sets, Atul said: "We keep on meeting. The best thing that happens as a crew of 'Rang De Basanti' is that all of us are still very good friends and we keep on meeting each other every now and then. So, it's not that I met him after 12 years, but I have worked with him after 12 years."

"In 'Rang De Basanti', among all the characters, both our characters shared a very different chemistry. I still remember the scene where we share smoke. That was a wonderful chemistry that both these characters had without speaking with each other and that continued. I feel that friendship of all these years really helped us while making this film," he added.

Andrea, known for featuring in south Indian films, is making her Bollywood debut with "The House Next Door". She had earlier confessed that she gets scared while watching horror films.

Asked what prompted her to debut in Bollywood with a horror film, she said: "I feel acting in a horror film is very different from having to watch it. I haven't even watched the trailer of the film, but a film is a film."

"It's a good script, great team and as an actor, I would have been a fool not to do it. Sid (Siddharth) is a very good friend of mine."

Directed by Milind Rau, "The House Next Door" releases on November 3.
