Srinagar, Oct 9 (IANS) Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi said here on Monday that injuring a child sends pain throughout humanity.
Speaking at a function to highlight issues pertaining to child abuse, Satyarthi appealed for protection of child rights, particularly their childhood and their education.
He said an injury to a child sends pain through entire humanity.
The Nobel laureate said the innocence of children gives us lessons about simplicity of life and appealed to all sections of people to protect it.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who spoke at the function termed children as the treasure of the future and appealed to all sections of society to play their role in protecting childhood which "unfortunately gets disrupted due to uncertainties or political turmoil".
She said the issues of the children in Jammu and Kashmir were bigger than others elsewhere.
The Chief Minister appealed to parents and teachers to treat children with care and share time with them.
Lauding the role and contribution of Satyarthi, she hoped that his experiences would be beneficial to the children and government.
Mehbooba Mufti hoped that the Noble laureate would help the children in carrying on with their education without any disruption or difficulty.
Chairman, Zee Media Ltd, Subhash Chandra, also spoke on the occasion and pledged his support to the cause.
