India Post introduces cross border shipping solutions to 12 Asia Pacific countries

Kolkata, Oct 9 (IANS) In a bid to cater to the needs of the eCommerce market in the country, India Post on Monday launched a cross border shipping solution called 'International Track Packet' that would provide hassle free shipping solution to 12 Asia Pacific countries, an official said.

"Today we launched 'International Track Packet' service that would help our customers to send shipments to 12 Asia Pacific countries like Australia, Combodia, Hong Kong and Japan at an economical rate. Additionally, the customers can also track and trace the packages online," Arundhati Ghosh, Chief Post Master General of India Post's West Bengal circle said after launching the service here on World Post Day.

"This is mainly a logistic service but can be used for sending documents as well. As the customers choose the higher weight category for the packages, the price would be cheaper for them. The service has been designed for the eCommerce market which can be used by both individuals as well as organisations," she clarified.

Ghosh said that National Post Week will be celebrated at all the post offices throughout the country starting from Monday, to showcase different segments of postal services.

"Savings Bank Day, Philately Day, Business Development Day, Mails Day etc would be celebrated throughout the course of this week to raise awareness about the role of Indian postal department in our everyday life," she said.

About the competition with the private logistic and supply chain companies in the country at present, she said the advantage for India Post is their extensive network in the tier three and tier four cities and the vast rural areas in the country.

"eCommerce companies are using private logistics but I am sure they would also keep using the India Post for the kind of network we have in all parts of the country. No other delivery agencies or logistic companies have that at present. Also India Post have introduced special services on holidays to cater the customer's need," she added.
