Ghaziabad deed writers continue strike

Ghaziabad deed writers continue strikeGhaziabad, Oct 6 (IANS) A strike by deed writers and lawyers in Ghaziabad against the government decision to go for online registration of properties in Uttar Pradesh entered the third day on Friday.

Tehsil Bar Association President Raj Kumar alleged that the state government had implemented the online registration in haste.

"The infrastructure is not ready to bear this new system. So the conventional way of registering properties is better through which the deed writers earned their livelihood," he said.

He outlined what he said were the demerits of the new system including lack of option for newly bought or ancestral property.

"No place is mentioned for group housing applicants. No column is available for ground floor area in four-storey property. No option is available to select stamp or e-stamp... And most of the time the server is down."

But the AIG Stamps in Ghaziabad, Mewa Lal Patel, said the online registration was a hassle free system.

"You are registered with the sub-registrar office through a one-time password on mobile number. Once you are registered it takes two to three minutes for registration of properties."

He said the new system had been introduced from Lucknow. "So it is not on our hands to stop or postpone it."

The new system covers eight districts in the second phase: Ghaziabad, Mathura, Bareilly, Barabanki, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur and Varanasi.
