"We have sent a proposal to the state government to give 25 per cent of the compensation amount to parents of the dead employees. Once the government clears the proposal, it will help many parents particularly whose children are working in police force," a police official told IANS.
The police official pointed out that there were several instances of the widow of the deceased policeman getting all the compensation amount, job and other facilities and then shifting to her parents house.
In some cases, the widow also re-married after getting the compensation and job and the deceased's parents were left to fend for themselves.
"Majority of people who join police force do not have good economic condition. The parents lead a miserable life after the death of their sons. This proposal is aimed to help the parents," said the police official.
The police official also said the Jharkhand Police Association had written to the state police chief demanding 25 per cent compensation amount for the deceased personnel's parents.
More than 400 police personnel have been killed in the Maoist violence in the state since its creation in November 2000.
