SC moved seeking stay of anticipatory bail to Ryan School's Pintos

New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) The father of murdered student Pradhuman Thakur on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the grant of anticipatory bail to Augustine Francis Pinto and two other officials of the Ryan International School at Gurugram.

Seeking stay of the grant of interim anticipatory bail to Pinto, Ryan Pinto and Grace Pinto, petitioner Barun Chandra Thakur has contended that the grant of anticipatory bail was "absolutely illegal, unwarranted, unconstitutional, erroneous..."

The Pintos were granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 28.

Thakur argued that the anticipatory bail was granted to Pinto and others without hearing either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the complainant in the case.

Describing the grant of anticipatory bail as unfortunate, he, in his petition, said that the investigation by the CBI was at a preliminary stage and granting interim bail to Pintos at this stage "frustrates the criminal justice delivery system..."

The matter relates to the death of 7-year-old Pradhuman Thakur - a class two student of the school's Gurugram branch, who was found dead in the school toilet with his throat slit, within sometime of his father having dropped him.
