A Defence Ministry statement on Sunday said: "Trainees undergoing mountain warfare advance training at HAWS successfully summited a height of 17,350 feet from September 27 to September 29 in Jammu and Kashmir
"A total of nine trainee commissioned officers and 79 trainee non-commissioned officers traversed the treacherous route with a mix of ice wall, moraines, glacial fields and crevasses."
The the training team was led by Major General Atul Kaushik, Commandant, HAWS.
"The team fixed numerous ropes to successfully summit the feature without any injuries.
"The 'height gain' exercise is a confidence booster for the trainees undergoing training to operate at altitudes above 17,000 feet height," the statement added.
