Ghaziabad, Noida to face water shortage

Ghaziabad, Noida to face water shortageGhaziabad/Noida, Sep 27 (IANS) Parts of Ghaziabad and Noida will face water shortage for about a month.

The trans-Hindon areas of Ghaziabad and parts of Noida would remain without the supply of Ganga water until October 25, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Ganga water supply would remain affected due to cleansing of the upper Ganges canal from Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

Normally, when the water is stopped from Haridwar barrage, it takes a week to reach the tail. Hence, the UP Irrigation Department would get three weeks to lift the sand from the bottom of the canal.

So the areas of Ghaziabad and Noida where Ganga water is supplied would suffer a shortage or low pressure of water where Ganga water is mixed with ground water.
