Central Health Service doctors’ retirement age raised to 65

New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) The retirement age of doctors employed in the Central Health Service (CHS) will now be 65 years, up from the existing 62 years, it was announced on Wednesday.

The decision will be implemented retrospectively from May 31, 2016.

A total of 1,445 doctors of various ministries and departments of the central government would benefit from the cabinet decision.

"We should see the move from the perspective of enhancement of patient care availability," Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.
