New Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday asked state Power Minister Satyendar Jain to prepare a plan to pass on the government subsidy on power tariff to tenants in the city, an official said.
In Delhi, there is a 50 per cent subsidy on power tariffs on domestic electricity connections for users consuming up to 400 units a month, but Kejriwal said that this benefit was not being passed on to tenants by house owners in many cases.
Kejriwal has written to the Power Minister asking him to take appropriate steps so that "no domestic electricity consumer in the city will be deprived of the subsidy".
"The Power Minister has been asked to prepare a road map for providing the benefit to each and every tenant residing in the city," an official statement said.
"Lakhs of tenants living in Delhi deprived of power subsidy. Power dept to prepare a proposal so that tenants also benefit from it," the Chief Minister later took it to Twitter.
The Delhi government had introduced 50 per cent subsidy in December 2013 and it is still in force.
