Three Maoists killed in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Sep 24 (IANS) Three Maoist guerrillas were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Jharkhand's Simdega district on Sunday, police said.

An AK-47 assault rifle, a carbine and a machine gun along with a huge cache of explosives were seized after the fighting at Bano between the People's Liberation Front of India cadres and security personnel.

A search operation was launched to nab the Maoists who escaped, police siad.

Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
