Ashok Leyland targets Russian LCV marketChennai, Sep 22 (IANS) Commerical vehicles major Ashok Leyland Ltd hopes to start shipping left hand drive, light commercial vehicles (LCV) to Russia and Gulf region next year once the company comes out with its model in January 2018, said a senior company official here on Friday.

President, LCV, Nitin Seth, also told reporters here that Ashok Leyland is targeting a sales of around 40,000 LCVs this year in the domestic market and around ten per cent of which will be exports.

He said the company will get is left hand drive LCVs ready in January 2018.

 

"The company plans to ship the model to Russia and the Gulf region. The vehicle has to be homologated in those markets. It will be Euro 5 emission compliant model," Seth said.

Present at the launch of new LCV model Dost+, he said: "There is a huge gap in the LCV segment which the company would like to address. Ashok Leyland will be a full fledged commercial vehicles company."

Dost+ has 18 per cent higher carrying capacity and seven per cent more loading space as compared to the other model Dost and comes with additional warranty of two years or one lakh kilometres, he added.

The price range of Dost+ starts at Rs 5.74 lakh.
