A six-member high-level Pakistani military delegation headed by Director General of Military Operations Maj. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza participated in the meeting in the Afghan capital city of Kabul, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations.
"Participants re-affirmed their resolve to continue fight against the common threat of terrorism. Areas of mutual security interests and concerns were deliberated upon during the interaction," the statement said.
The meeting was held a day after a suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State killed at least three people at a checkpoint near the Kabul International Cricket Stadium.
Besides the Pakistan-Afghanistan-US trilateral meeting, Pakistani and Afghan officials also held a separate bilateral military cooperation meeting at the Ministry of Defence in Kabul, the statement said.
Important issues linked to cross-border fire and attacks, counter-terrorism, coordinated actions on respective side along the Pakistan-Afghan border and detainees exchange were discussed, the statement added.
Both sides agreed to make progress in line with the commitments made at recent high level meetings and formulate an action plan, which will contribute towards improving security along the Pakistan-Afghan border through enhanced cooperation, the military said.
