Jabalpur, Sep 14 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has pronounced four-year jail term and Rs 30 lakh fine each for two sons of a Public Works Department Superintending Engineer, since deceased, in a disproportionate assets case of 1995, an official said on Thursday.
Lokayukta Additional Prosecutor Prabhat Shukla said that Special Judge Akshay Dwivedi handed the sentence to Prashant Pathak and Pankaj Pathak.
A Lokayukta team had on November 22, 1995, raided the office and government accomodation of then Superintending Engineer Gaya Prasad Pathak, who was then posted in Sagar, and seized Rs 22 lakh in cash.
He was accused of posessing assets of Rs 60.79 lakh more than his known sources of income. A probe found that the official had invested his ill-gotten money in his sons' plastic factory and a financial investment company.
The two sons were made accused in the case thereafter. Gaya Prasad Pathak passed away in 2011.
