Srinagar, Sep 14 (IANS) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that if his National Conference party was in power, the BJP would not dare talk about Article 35A of the Constitution.
Abdullah blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allowing the Centre to talk about 35A, putting into jeopardy the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah said the formation of the PDP was to weaken the National Conference after it passed the autonomy resolution in the state assembly in 2000.
"We (NC) would not even allow them to talk about Article 35A if we would have been in power. They do not like it when we take oath on our own constitution. If there is an attack on Article 35A it is because the NC is out of power," Abdullah told the media.
He said the passing of the autonomy resolution created a flutter in the corridors of the Indian government.
"They started seeing NC as a threat. This gave birth to the PDP."
