Hyderabad, September 2017: First ever ‘Sight-A-Thon 2017 a blindfold 2K walk was organized in the city, by Saksham –Telangana National Level NGO, a joint initiative of Govt of Telangana and NPCB. To create awareness on eye donation.
The walk was flagged off at the Peoples Plaza by the star Comedian Ali Basha along with TS.MaestroGazal Srinivas. Fight masters Ram and Laxman, Actor Raghu Karamanchi, and GHMCHarichandana Dasari- GHMC Zonal commissioner(West) were also graced.
2k Run started from Peoples plaza to Indira Gandhi statue Circle and turned back to Plaza. More than 1500 participants supported the walk. Saw the participants in the walk blindfolded and hand held by Visually-challenged guide team of blindfolded members in the walk.
"Many are suffering from blindness right from the birth or because of cornea like problems, eye donation is the only way left to get the eye sight to these people," said, Dr.Veda Prakash, President Saksham Telangana, and Secretary Karunakar, Dr. SantoshKraleti.
