Lata Mangeskar salutes brotherhood of Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 30 (IANS) Melody queen Lata Mangeskar has lauded the efforts by locals and religious places in Mumbai to help people seeking shelters after the city was flooded due to heavy rains.

On Tuesday, entire Mumbai received heavy rains with the suburbs notching up a staggering 316 mm in a 12-hour cycle -- the highest record since the great Mumbai floods of 2005. On Wednesday, the city was trying to limp back to normal.

"People of Mumbai stood united, all religious places of different religions opened their gates for those seeking help during heavy rain yesterday (Tuesday). This view of brotherhood has touched my heart. I would like to salute all of them," Mangeskar tweeted on Wednesday.

Besides Mangeskar, Bollywood celebrities like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Suniel Shetty extended support to people affected by the deluge.
