Dera chief verdict: Police, paramilitary deployed in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS) Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in outer Delhi on Friday ahead of a verdict against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a rape case, police said.

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court will deliver its verdict in Haryana's Panchkula.

In outer Delhi, which borders Haryana, around 14 police picketing posts have been set up and a company of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been also deployed, a senior police officer told IANS.

Each post will have four police officers to provide round-the-clock security cover and the ITBP company is around 80-member strong.

"We're taking extra care in Peeragarhi, Kanjhawala, Mundka border and Baba Haridas Nagar police station limits which are closer to the border," the officer added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police and Delhi Police spokesperson Madhur Verma told IANS that there was no extra security in the city apart from outer Delhi.

"Till now there is no impact of the verdict in the city," he added.
