Abidjan, Aug 24 (IANS/MAP) The African Initiative Women Foundation (AIWF) is organising a two-day forum on the issue of women's economic empowerment here on August 29 and 30.
The meeting has been organised to create a framework for exchanges and information between women in the agricultural chain and support structures to find solutions to the question of empowerment and its impact on community development, said Fofana Fadiga Mariam, the president and founder of AIWF, on Wednesday.
"The AWI foundation aims to help empower women and involve them in community development," she said.
Several workshops will be conducted in partnership with the National Programme for Community Development (PNDC). Issues related to the contribution of self-help women in community development, strengthening women's entrepreneurship and access to finance, production, processing, marketing and new market opportunities will be addressed by several experts.
Business meetings are also planned to bring together more than 300 women from the agri-food sector and other professional organisations.
